A journal can act as a platform to showcase numerous clinical and academic capabilities of the members of the society, in the field of research and development. Twenty-four glorious years in the history of any academic journal is an important, praiseworthy milestone. Publishing a journal is a difficult and arduous task. The journal of the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry started with a single publication per year. It was due to paucity of funds and availability of few articles, but today there is no dearth of articles. This speaks volumes about the popularity of the journal.
The journal is the academic backbone of the society. It has grown in strength, which is reflected by the quality of research papers received. Now we are publishing four issues per year and the journal is also indexed and available on the Internet (www.jisppd.com). This achievement could not have been possible without the generous support of its members, past editor Dr Chawla, the guidance of Prof. Tewari, Dr. Taneja and many others and also the present editorial team. This is indeed, a moment to take pride in the achievements of the journal, and build upon its strength by acknowledging its flaws and learning from its failures.
It was my ardent desire to publish a special issue on Fluorides and Traumatic injuries and other topics of Pediatric Dentistry. This special issue on Dentofacial Anomalies is presented to you with great satisfaction. It is important to note that one can achieve the desired improvement with a proper, systematic approach. I am sure the journal will rise to the pinnacle of glory in the years to come.
